Lexington Minute Men to Commemorate 250th Anniversary of Massachusetts Preparing for War with England

On March 1, 2025, the Lexington Minute Men and several historical organizations will host a free special event commemorating the 250th anniversary of Massachusetts’ preparations for war with England. This event takes place on the Lexington Common and features a full battalion-level winter drill showcasing 18th-century military maneuvers, firing demonstrations, and a recreation of the 1775 arms and equipment inspections ordered by the Massachusetts Provincial Congress. 

The event schedule includes the following;

  • Opening Ceremony with a brief sermon by Reverend Jonas Clarke at 1:00 pm
  • Civilian Life Interpretive Activities at Buckman Tavern from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm 
  • Company-level drills on Lexington Green from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
  • Battalion-level drill on Lexington Green from 3:30 – 4:15 pm 
  • Inspections of arms and equipment as ordered by the Massachusetts Provincial Congress from 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm

Lex250 Gala

On March 6, 2025, at 6:30 pm, the Lexington Chamber of Commerce and Lex250 will host a special Gala at Wilson Farm. This Gala is meant to celebrate both the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and 140 years of harvests at Wilson Farm. The event will include gourmet appetizers, a one-hour open bar, live music, dancing, and an auction. You must purchase a ticket to attend the event; the ticket costs $125 for Chamber members and $150 for non-members. 

Alarmed in Lexington

Right at the Hancock-Clarke House on March 8, 2025, at 7 pm, you can watch three short plays unfold about the early hours before the start of the American Revolution. Written by Debbie Wiess, these plays follow John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Dorothy Quincy, Lydia Hancock, and Jonas and Lucy Clarke, and how they prepared for the impending war.  

The Cost of Freedom Concert by Lexington Symphony

The Lexington Symphony will return to the stage for their concert “The Cost of Freedom” on March 15, 2025, at 7:30 pm at Cary Hall. This performance will include three different pieces: 

  • Still | In Memorium
  • Lidström | World Premiere Mats Lidström, cello
  • Beethoven | Symphony No. 3 “Eroica” 

Still | In Memorium is an ode to forgotten black soldiers who fought for our freedoms during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Lidström | World Premiere Mats Lidström, cello is inspired by Robert F. Kennedy’s famous speech moments before he was assassinated during his bid for the American presidency. Beethoven | Symphony No. 3 “Eroica” follows the story of a certain “hero” who begins with noble intentions of freeing the French from oppression, only for it to go very wrong.  

Rum Revolution Cocktail Class at the Inn at Hastings Park

During the colonial era, rum was a popular alcohol for American colonists. On March 20, 2025, at 6 pm, the Inn at Hastings Park will host a Rum Revolution Cocktail Class to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Lexington. 

Mixology instructor, Dipendra Karki, leads the guided craft cocktail class where guests can enjoy delicious bar snacks while learning the basics of building the perfect rum cocktails. The class includes the following: 

  • An introduction to various bar tools, measurements, and pour counts 
  • A guide on building rum cocktails 
  • A lesson on creating creative garnishes
  • An introduction to infusions 

The event costs $125 per person.

2025 Lexington Sustainability Fair

On March 22, 2025, at 10 am, LexCAN and the Town of Lexington are hosting a sustainability fair. Located at Lexington High School, this event is free and includes a keynote speaker, a panel of local speakers, an electric vehicle showcase, a full slate of vendors and organizations, and family-friendly activities.
