The Cary Lecture Series, established in the early 1920s by longtime Lexington benefactors the Cary sisters, offers free public talks spanning the arts, sciences, and current events, with the goal of stimulating, educating, and entertaining the general public. Facilitated by a volunteer committee appointed by Lexington Town Meeting, and endowed by the Isaac Harris Cary Education Foundation, speakers have included Nobel Prize winners, individuals who lived through incarceration by the U.S. government during World War II, artists, writers, scholars, scientists with international stature, and medical doctors responsible for breakthrough discoveries and global humanitarian aid. The series strives to bring a kaleidoscope of perspectives to the general public to reflect and ponder who we are as individuals, as a society, and as a community. The Series has also extended its digital range since the 2020 pandemic, enriching not only the culture of the town of Lexington, but of the Commonwealth and of all who join our events.
